With great joy we received on May 8, 2025, the news of the election of the 267th Supreme Pontiff and we give him a warm welcome. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost is the first American Pope in history.
His name, Leo XIV, has a special significance as it evokes the encyclical Rerum Novarum, which has been a source of inspiration and action seeking for a just social order where those in need could find their dignity through good job conditions. Rerum Novarum, written by Leo XIII, resonates in our charity programs seeking to give the youth dignity and a better future by giving them the necessary skills to find good job opportunities.
The appointment of Leo XIV is a sign of our times. His pastoral experience, his knowledge of the world, and his closeness to the Social Doctrine of the Church fill us with hope about the role and potential we have, as promoters of opportunities for the youth, in building a better world in the 21st century.
Let us pray for him and the enormous mission that has been entrusted to him providing hope and moral leadership in a complex world.
We also pray for each one of you, our dedicated benefactors and friends who believe in the potential of a youth with access to develop their skills and to contribute with them to different companies.
A fraternal greeting to all of you dear friends of World Villages.

Action in Africa x World Villages Collaboration
In January, Action in Africa reached out to World Villages for Children in the UK for help for girls in their community in Nyaishozi, Tanzania. By March, we had received two young women into our Kiluvya Training Centre to start a six month training programme.
