We're so proud of the boys at our Minglanilla Boystown who have just come first against other schools and universities in the Annual Minglanilla Municipal Sports Meet in Cebu, Philippines.
Sixteen schools and universities competed against each other in a variety of sports ranging from Table Tennis to Long Jump.
The boystown boys overcame their disappointment at coming second in the competition last year and this time were triumphant in the overall competition winning 36 Gold medals, 18 Silver and 4 Bronzes! This was enough to defeat the previous years champions propelling our boys to first place and included winning 18 gold medals in Athletics, eight in Arnis, four in Taekwondo and two in table tennis - a wonderful result!
Last year our UK Manager was in the boys school in Cebu and was privileged to see how hard the boys practice their sports. They love the chance to improve their skills and they work hard each day to improve their fitness and abilities. This clip shows the boys perfecting the sport of Arnis which is practiced by some of the boys and was brought back to the school by one of the graduates, Lee Matthew Artcijo - who still visits the school every Saturday to teach the boys.
The boys richly deserve this success and we send our congratulations to Sister Emelan, Sr. Eva and all the boys in Minglanilla, Cebu!
