On 12th December we were delighted to celebrate the inauguration of the new building for the Girls School in Tanzania.
Attended by the Vice President of Tanzania, His Excellency Hon Philip Isdor Mpango and His Grace, the Most Rev Jude Thaddaeus Ruwa’ichi, Archbishop of Dar Es Salaam. The day was a tribute to the support of our donors and the work of the Sisters in expanding this first education programme in East Africa.
The new building will enable us to increase our capacity for girls up to 1000. With so much poverty in this region this is an essential requirement and the families of the girls currently at school are so grateful to us for this aid.
Sister Maria reports that “I had just visited one of our students house and they are so poor, the mother never stopped thanking me for accepting her daughter”.
In addition to classrooms in the new building there will be a new library and eLibrary which will enable the children to learn the full range of academic and vocational skills they need to find local work when they leave school.
