Nelson Mandela understood that working together to overcome poverty is not a matter of charity alone – it is justice. Providing equitable access to education for children born into the most extreme poverty is an act of social justice.
When children are at the mercy of poor circumstances, it is a our responsibility as their global community to respond and advocate on their behalf, partnering with them to set them up with sustainable steps out of poverty.
When we ensure that every child’s fundamental right to education is protected, we protect their futures and promote the growth and development of their communities.
So this Nelson Mandela Day, won’t you honour the foundational work laid down by so many people like Nelson Mandela and give children their human right to education?
