On 2nd October 2022, we were delighted to have two runners taking part in the TCS 2022 London Marathon raising funds for World Villages for Children. Ross and Shiela travelled to London from Qatar and Scotland respectively, to take part together in the Virtual London Marathon, which they chose to run in a circuit around Hyde Park.
Ross Ayuro is a graduate of our Philippines programmes and currently lives in Qatar. She is an ultra-marathon runner and as a way of showing her support for our work and giving back to the schools that helped her out of poverty, she is raising funds to support the girls and boys in our care at the schools now.
Sheila Ruiz is Ross’s friend and running companion. Now living in Scotland, Shiela was keen to help raise funds for World Villages for Children and travelled down to meet Ross and the World Villages for Children team in London. Ross and Shiela were supported by Elmer, another graduate from the Philippines currently living in Qatar and in London to support our fundraising effort.
Achieving times of 3.24.24 (Ross) and 4.13.04 (Shiela). It was a terrific team effort and we are so grateful to the girls and Elmer for coming all the way to London to run, help us to raise the profile of the charity and raise funds to support even more boys and girls into education.
