Early education for poor children in Guatemala

At Zona 13 Day Care, the Sisters and teachers provide safe care and early education for young boys and girls between the ages of 3 – 5 years old.

The nursery not only provides a vital educational foundation with early learning, but also a safe place for care while their parents go to work.  The children arrive at 8 am and leave at 4 pm. They have three meals a day and milk. This helps to build up the children. They enjoy lots of play activities and early learning opportunities (they particularly love the playground activities). It helps young boys and girls who have had a difficult start in life to prepare for elementary school by teaching them how to develop social skills, respond to teaching, listen and learn. This essential early education builds confidence and sets the children up for life.
