At World Villages, we are always striving to meet the most basic needs of our children. Food is a fundamental need and essential to our children’s lives at school.
In Dodoma Boystown, we are embarking on a greenhouse project. In the dry climate in central Tanzania, high evaporation means smaller yields from the school garden.
Without greenhouses, many of the leafy plants will not grow. With greenhouses, we can ensure an environment where the evaporation is lower, and we can conserve precious water while growing bigger, healthier plants to feed the boys of Dodoma Boystown. We have the space to build but need your help to create a sustainable source of food for these children.
Two greenhouses are complete, we need help with the remaining eight!

The cost for one greenhouse is £5,000. The project plans for 10 greenhouses in total to support the needs of all the boys who are currently at Dodoma Boystown, and who will join in the years to come. When Dodoma Boystown reaches capacity, adding a new year group every year, there will be up to 1,200 boys in From 1 – Form 6.
The greenhouses will provide food and a training ground for the boys to learn invaluable agricultural skills that they will take home to their families. the skills also prepare them for work when they finish school, with many of teh boys coming from agricultural families who would like to pursue agriculture as a career one day.
