Rigobert met the Sisters whilst they were on a boat travelling to reach out to children in need on Ukara Island in late 2025. The Sisters reported that Rigobert “looked very simple, poor, and humble. They asked where he was going, and he replied, “I’m going to Ukara Island to meet the Sisters.” He arrived at 6:30 a.m. the next day, wearing the same shirt he’d worn the day before. He met the Sisters but then disappeared.
As the Sisters were finishing their outreach in the middle of a busy village with people and children moving everywhere and smoke rising from cooking fires, they saw Rigobert wearing the same shirt. He was smiling, and came to the Sisters and led them to his home, where they met his grandmother, an 86-year-old woman who could neither hear nor speak. She was sitting on the dirt floor. Neighbours gathered and told the Sisters his story.

Rigobert’s mother died when he was seven, and then his father passed away shortly after. When the Sisters met him he was living with his grandmother of 84 years old, who was too ill to care for him, although the neighbours helped where they could. He also had an eye infection and couldn’t see out of one eye.
Sister Vaileth and Sister Margie reported that he “truly was one of the poorest boys they had ever met”. They thought his eyesight could be treated with proper care and that he showed great potential. They thought that Rigobert deserved the chance to heal, to learn, and to dream.
They immediately decided to offer him a place at the new boys’ school in Dodoma.

Rigobert arrived at our school for boys in Dodoma early in January.
He is already settling into his new life. He loves his new school and is making many new friends. Thanks to our supporters he has new clothes and shoes, three good balanced meals each day and for the first time he has access to learning. For the first time he can enjoy a stress free childhood.
In his academic and vocational classes he is a good student and he is beginning to learn the new skills that will help him to find a good job when he leaves school in 5 years time.
Thanks to your support his life will be transformed.
