On 8 July 2024, World Villages entered The Big Give Photo Challenge.

This year’s theme was Your Narrative in a Frame. We selected three images that capture the heart of our work.

Sister Margie, Mama Baracka, Baracka and Sister Vialeth is outside Baracka's home in Tanzania

Our three images

  • Left – In Tanzania, Sr Margie & Sr Vialeth sit with Baracka & his mother. A polio survivor & single mother, she struggles to support her family. Baracka’s education will change their lives forever. The joy in this image captures our “why” – children empowered by education & hope of a poverty-free future

  • Bottom Left – Sr Neema meets a young boy in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. She learns about life in desperate deprivation. The Sisters travel to find children living in poverty, who need a life-changing education. Every child receives a quality education & care to empower them to break free from poverty – for good.

  • Bottom right – A quality education is changing the lives of Anastazia & her poor farming family in Tanzania. Anastazia is just one of the thousands of children whose lives are transformed with the care & education from the Sisters of Mary. This captures the depth of need our programmes address through education.
